Anonymous said...: Don't neglect your artsy side Mike. For lack of a better term, "artsy" is something I personally believe should be encouraged more in intelligence analysts. Perhaps what I'm really looking for is the ability of an analyst to see more than is literally right in front of the eyes. For example, poetry would all be rot without the desire to look beyond the immediate.

I'm just shooting from the hip here, but I see one of the better pieces of art I've come across in awhile. Take or blow away our superficial exterior and you are left with nothing more than a consumer. A robotic consumer at that, void of any real capability of separating himself from the shopping cart of consumerism. Even as incapacitated as one would be without a torso or head, the remaining corpse is still attached and still pushing the wheels of consumerism. Money will be exchanging hands for a coffin, for a new black suit that a relative must buy for the funeral, for a lawyer that must settle the estate of the deceased between the two sons, for any number of other that will go to fill that shopping cart.; May 15, 2010 at 1:21 PM
